Ohio wrestling was beaten by Bloomsburg on January 22.

After earning a preseason No. 21 ranking by Wrestling Insider Magazine last week, the Bobcats wrestling team has been selected as the preseason favorite to take the Mid-American Conference title.

MAC wrestling coaches decided upon the preseason rankings after ranking individual wrestlers in specific weight classes. Based on the individual rankings, the coaches selected Ohio to replace defending champion Missouri as the MAC Champion in 2013.

The preseason ranking was the closest in conference history, as Ohio (19 points) finished just nine points ahead of sixth place Central Michigan. The Bobcats narrowly edged Old Dominion for the top spot, as the Big Blue received 17 points.

The rankings will be released monthly throughout the season and another ranking system will be released in January and February.

The Bobcats face their first opponents of the season on Nov. 9 at the Michigan State Open.
