On this edition of Conversations from Studio B, Cecilia Rinaldi, Carol Ault, Joe Balding, Rita Preston, Ginny Puhl and Heidi Wilhelm talk about the ABC Players production of Death by Chocolate.
Directed by Cecilia Rinaldi, Death by Chocolate tells the story of what happens when Coco Purvis (Carol Ault) and her sister, Bonbon (Ginny Puhl), run Precious Perks Coffee Shoppe, known for its signature drink: Death by Chocolate.
Unfortunately, Vinnie the Leech died while drinking it last month, and this has impacted business. So Coco brings her problem to Nick Noir, private eye (Joe Balding).
After a second death under similar circumstances, Nick's former secretary, Selma (Heidi Wilhelm), plays a psychic who, with the help of her ever-present Blackberry, helps Nick solve the crime and earn enough to afford an office — and rehire Selma.
Sylvia Abbott, James Frame, Katie Hukill, Rita Preston, Sandy Russell and Terry Smith round out the cast. The crew includes Suzanne Ragg as stage manager, Sylvia Abbott as assistant director, Ardelle Donohue as props mistress, Carol Ault as lighting designer, Jim Parons as sound designer, Celeste Parsons as set designer and Kaylla Steadman as costume designer.
The play, which runs Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at Stuart's Opera House, is being sponsored by Hocking Valley Bank. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
