Jackson vs. Gallia Academy. The Red and White vs. the Blue and Black. The top rivalry game in the SEOAL.

Typically this game determines the SOEAL champion. Although Gallia Academy cannot receive part of the crown, Jackson is still in a heated race to the top.

The Blue Devils of Gallia Academy (5-4, 1-2 SEOAL) suffered a tough loss last week to the Logan Chieftains, knocking them out of the race for a league title. But the Blue Devils do not need any additional motivation for this game.

“It’s the Jackson game, a rivalry game,” Gallia Academy head coach

Wade Bartholomew said. “These guys should want to play this game and should want to win this game. This is why you play football, for games like this.”

Bartholomew and the Blue Devils would also like to play spoilers in Friday night’s match.

“It’s Jackson and we have a chance of holding them from what they want,” Bartholomew said. “You go into this game with a lot of emotion and passion.”

For Jackson (5-4, 3-0 SEOAL) however, the focus is on the number one spot in the Southeast Ohio Athletic League. With a win against Gallia Academy and a Logan loss, both Jackson and Logan will finish the season with 3-1 conference records.

“We are big Warren fans this week,” Jackson coach Andy Hall said, not to diverge focus from the Ironmen’s own opponent.  “(Gallia Academy is) athletic and their offense is as good as anyone in this area.”

Unfortunately for Jackson they have been quite injury prone. The Ironmen will miss the Gabe Griffiths’ effort in the season finale.

“Been real tough this year for us,” Hall said. “We are looking for freshmen to step up for us. It’s going to be a big challenge for us.”

The game is sure to have excitement, emotion, and passion. The Ironmen are looking to clinch a share of the SEOAL title in front of their home crowd, Friday night at 7:30.
