A late-season storm is putting a damper on plans this Halloween.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for parts of the WOUB coverage area until 3 a.m. Friday.
A wind advisory means winds speeds are forecasted be between 30-40 mph, and gust between 50-60 mph.
A strong cold front, along with showers and potential thunderstorms will move through Ohio and West Virginia Thursday Evening and will persist through the overnight hours of Friday.
Advisories have yet to be issued for Athens and surrounding counties.
According to the National Weather Service, downed power lines and trees are a typical result of strong winds, though damage could be minimized based on the lack of strength of the winds.
We will have updated coverage throughout the day as the weather moves into our region.
