Following an undefeated week for the Ohio Bobcats volleyball team, Abby Gilleland was named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week for the final week of the season. In two matches against Kent State and Central Michigan, Gilleland averaged 10.3 assists per set as well as 2.1 points per set. This is the third time this season the sophomore setter has won this award.
On Thursday against Kent State, Gilleland recorded 34 assists, a match high. She followed that up with a 28 assist match against Central Michigan on Saturday, another match high. For the weekend, Gilleland also contributed 11 total kills, hitting at a .476 clip.
Gilleland helped lead the Bobcats to the outright MAC regular-season title, finishing the regular-season with a 24-4 record. The No. 1-seeded Bobcats take on the 8-seed Kent State Golden Flashes once again this Friday at noon in Geneva in the first round of the MAC Tournament.
