ARTS/west is holding its first ever smartphone photo exhibit, entitled For the Love of Athens County, in February.

The photo exhibit will focus on images--taken only with smartphones--of people, places or things most loved in Athens County.

Several of the images chosen by a jury will be printed and hung in the exhibit space of ARTS/West.

Many of the other photos submitted will be shown as a slide show during the opening night of the exhibit on Feb. 7 from 6-9 p.m. The exhibit will run from Feb. 3-March 3.

Those interested in submitting photos for the exhibit should take fun, creative photos of their favorite people, places or things in Athens County. The photos may be straightforward, interpretive, color or black and white.

The subject matter must be in Athens County, however the artist doesn’t have to be from the county in order to submit. All ages are welcome to enter.

All entries (limit of five per person) should be emailed to and the subject of the email should be "Love of Athens_LastName."

The body of the email should include the artist’s full name, email address and street address, name of photo or other description and age (if under 18). The deadline to submit is Jan. 6.

ARTS/west is located at 132 W. State St., Athens.
