Rio Grande will play its first away game of the season on Wednesday against Wilberforce University. The two teams faced each other earlier this season, resulting in a 113-98 opening game win for Rio. The win also marked the RedStorm’s 700th all-time win.

Rio will be heading into this game with a 6-2 record (1-1 MSC) while Wilberforce is 1-8.

Wilberforce is the only team to score as many as 98 points against the RedStorm. The previous game against the Bulldogs consisted of many fouls, as nine out of the 14 Rio players had two or more.

After recently coming off of its first Mid-South Conference win of the season, the RedStorm hope to further their momentum and defeat the Bulldogs a second time this year.

The RedStorm played a hard fought game to earn a 90-83 win against Lindsey Wilson College. Like many of the previous games, there was a constant back-and-forth battle between the two teams, which resulted in a close game.

With a last second 3-pointer by Sharday Baines, Rio Grande held the lead by intermission at 45-41. In the second half the score was tied at 81 with three minutes left in the game, and Rio managed to put itself ahead for the win.

Sophomore Sarah Bonar earned herself a career-high 27 points, while Brianna Thomas scored an impressive 25 points.

Thomas and Bonar currently lead the RedStorm in points, as they average 21.5 and 17.1 points per game, respectively. Brooke Marcum is leading the team in rebounds with 9.8 per contest.

Leading the Bulldogs in points is Dominique Fischer with 16.9 per game, and Kendra Moss is leading in rebounds with 8.0 per game.

Wilberforce is looking to redeem itself after losing its last matchup against the RedStorm, while Rio Grande hopes to sweep the Bulldogs.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Student Activities Center.
