After garnering some preseason attention, the Ohio wrestling team has found itself ranked for the first time this season. The Bobcats come in at No. 25 in the latest USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll.

The ‘Cats, who are 5-1 this season, have been getting votes for most of the 2013-14 campaign and finally got enough for a top 25 slot. The rankings come on the heels of the Bobcats’ 33-9 win over Northern Illinois on Jan. 10.

The Green and Whites’ ascension gives the Mid-American Conference three ranked programs in the polls. Missouri comes in at No. 7 and Northern Iowa at No. 9. The Bobcats fell to Missouri early in the season and will travel take on Northern Iowa on Feb. 1.

Ohio received 55 points in the polls, and a fourth MAC program, Kent State, is right on its heels with 36 points. Ohio will take on the Golden Flashes at home on Jan. 24.

With a 1-1 conference record Ohio has a big weekend ahead, in which it will take on Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. Ohio will travel to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. to take on the Chippewas on Friday, Jan. 17, and then return home for a dual with the Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 19.
