Ohio volleyball players Abby Gilleland, Kelly Lamberti and Meredith Ashy will participate in open tryouts for the United States Women’s National Team.
Tryouts take place Feb. 21-23 at the Colorado Springs, Colo., U.S. Olympic Training Center. They will be competing among 246 student athletes across the nation for a spot on the National Team.
Gilleland is a setter in her sophomore year from Bull Valley, Ill. She was recently named to the Northeast All-Region team. This past season, she became the first student-athlete in Ohio history to be named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and MAC Setter of the Year. Gilleland also ranked nationally in the top 25 for her hitting percentage.
Lamberti is an outside hitter in her junior year from Cary, Ill. Lamberti was also named to the Northeast All-Region team. She led the team with 14 double-doubles. She was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7.
Ashy is a libero in her sophomore year from Louisville, Ky. Although she only scored 25 points during the season, she leads the team with 547 digs.
