With several lakes, a forest complete with a haunted train tunnel and countless countrysides, residents and tourists have plenty of photo opportunities throughout Vinton County for this year's photo contest.
The Vinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau is accepting photos for the annual contest, which for years has spurred residents to try capturing the county's beauty in rural and village areas.
As in previous years, the contest is split into four categories of submissions — People in Action; Landscapes, streetscapes and landmarks; Historic Vinton County; and an "Open" category of any photo that does not fit into the others.
Anything submitted which distinctly shows a person's face must have a photo release signed by the subject.
Winning submissions may get used in future marketing projects with county's visitors bureau, said Sam Davidson, Vinton County's marketing director. While photo entries are due on April 18, the bureau has already received numerous submissions he said.
Those hoping to submit photos do not have to be residents of Vinton County. Those interested can contact the visitors bureau at 596-5033 or email email@example.com.
A gallery of previous winners is available at the bureau's website, www.vintoncountytravel.com.
