After two seasons as an assistant at Austin Peay, Ariel Apolinario will join head coach Deane Webb's staff at Ohio next season.

"When I first heard about this opportunity from [Webb], it just felt right," Apolinario said. "His passion, his vision, but mpost important how he was planning to do it sold me."

In two seasons with Austin Peay, Apolinario helped the Governors to 30 wins. Prior to coaching in the Ohio Valley Conference, he assisted at Union University. There, he developed an offseason training program and had a hand in recruiting. Union won the TranSouth Conference in Apolinario's first season with a 13-1 league record.

Appolinario is the first assistant Webb has added since his was appointed head coach.

"Ariel is one of the bright young stars in college coaching," Webb said. "I've known for a few years that I wanted to hire him."

Appolinario, a 2010 graduate of Division-II King University, was one of the founding members of the school's men's volleyball program. In addition to his assistant roles, he has experience as a head coach in the club system.

Appolinario and Webb will take over a roster still very much in tact from last season's Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championship runs.
