West Virginia is expanding the website of unclaimed property to include listings of $25 or more.
State Treasurer John Perdue's office says recent policy changes have lowered the minimum value threshold from $50 to $25. That means misplaced or lost money of $25 or more is now listed.
The latest numbers show an increase of more than 1,200 claims filed for unclaimed property this fiscal year compare with the same timeframe last year. But the dollar amount of claims has decreased by nearly $844,000.
Perdue's office also plans to release an about 13,000-name list of rightful property owners in newspapers across the state and through direct mailings later this month. However, properties listed in the bulletin are of at least $50 in value.
