University of Rio Grande freshman softball player, Jenna Jones, earned the Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is the first MSC honor that Jones has earned in her collegiate career.
Jones is a Lancaster, Ohio, native and has pitched three full games over her 20 innings of work this season. She finished last week with a 2-1 record, an ERA of 1.75 and 11 strikeouts.
The shining moment this past week for Jones was Rio’s complete-game shut out against Georgetown. Rio won the game 1-0 with Jones striking out three players and limiting the Tigers to six hits.
In a 2-1 win over Cumberland this week, Jones allowed just one run on nine hits.
Prior to play on Monday, Jones was ranked sixth in conference with a 2.07 ERA.
