The state's attorney general says several agencies around Ohio have received about $10,000 to build awareness about the resources available to victims of crime.

Attorney General Mike DeWine says 10 agencies will share the money to promote their services during this week, which is National Crime Victims' Rights Week. It ends on Saturday.

The agencies were given a grant between $870 and $1,000 each for their awareness campaigns. The awardees include the Children's Advocacy Center of Guernsey County, the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and Lighthouse Youth Services in Cincinnati.

DeWine's office provides compensation to eligible crime victims and their families through the Ohio Victims of Crime Compensation Fund. The fund can pay for medical expenses, lost wages, funerals and other costs. The fund paid out about $8.8 million in 2013.
