Three Ohio Runners Named Academic All-MAC

Three Ohio women’s track and field members were named to the Academic All-MAC team Tuesday for their success in the classroom and on track during the 2014 indoor season.

Seniors Juli Accurso, Melissa Thompson and sophomore Caroline Hildebrand represented the Bobcats on the annual league academic roster.  Accurso and Thompson are no strangers to the award as they have earned Academic All-MAC honors for the third straight season.

Accurso and Thompson were a part of the distance medley relay team that finished third at the MAC Indoor Championships with a time of 11:32.04. Accurso won the 3,000m run at the YSU Icebreaker in a time of 9:27.92 before missing the middle of the season due to injury.

Hildebrand earned two top-six finishes at the MAC Indoor Championships. She placed fifth in the 3,000m run w a pehritsonal-best time of 9:49.72. She also finished second in the 3,000m run at the Ohio State Tune-Up and was second in the 5,000m run at the Tom Wright Classic.

Thompson finished third in the one mile run at the MAC Indoor Championships and went on to win the same event at the Tom Wright Classic.

Accurso, Hildebran and Thompson weren’t the only members of the track and field team to collect accolades on Tuesday. Juniors Chanda Cuckler and Delaney Bolger and sophomore Kayla Scott collected Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention awards.  Cuckler and Scott garnered honorable mention for the second-straight season.

The Bobcats return to action on April 26 at the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
