Athens' Central Venue came alive Friday, April 18 with local artists and music veterans--including a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--all in aid of an important community support organization.

"Community Illumination" was part arts exhibit, curated by Patty Mitchell and Robert Lockheed of Collaborative Art International, and part concert, featuring legendary singer/guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and local favorite Laura Nadeau, as well as contributions from The Gathering Place Music Ensemble and Voices of Poetry.

All proceeds benefited The Gathering Place, an Athens organization that supports the recovery of persons with mental illness by enhancing personal development and well-being, while fostering community involvement.
