GM Invests $50 Million In Chevy Cruze Plant

General Motors says it is investing $50 million at the northeast Ohio plant that builds the popular Chevrolet Cruze.

The company said the investments, which include a new trim shop, are directed at the next generation of the Cruze compact sedan to be built at the Lordstown plant near Youngstown.

The Cruze has become GM's best-selling car since it was launched in September 2010.

The auto-workers union said it is buying 1 millionth Cruze, which was built at Lordstown on April 10. The car will be raffled off to a plant employee with all ticket proceeds donated to local charities.

GM says it has invested approximately $250 million at Lordstown since 2009. The complex has built more than 15 million vehicles since opening in April 1966.
