A grand jury has cleared three central Ohio police officers who fatally shot a knife-wielding man last fall.

The three officers shot at 31-year-old Jason White in separate confrontations in November when they responded to an early morning call at a Columbus apartment complex.

They say one of the officers tried to subdue White with a stun gun before shooting him. White fled and jumped a fence outside the complex, then was shot by the other officers when he confronted each with the knife.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the actions of the three officers also are being reviewed to determine whether they followed department policy.

The grand jury declined to indict the officers May 30.
