A Stewart teen died after the vehicle he was driving went off State Route 329 on Monday night.
Michael Allen Rood, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after his two-door 1996 Saturn crashed off the right side of the road at about 7:30 p.m.
Rood had been traveling northbound when the car came off the road, striking an embankment, going airborne and striking a tree before finally coming to rest upside down, according to a news release by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Athens County Coroner's Office pronounced the man dead. Rood was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, the highway patrol stated in the release.
Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing.
