Diamond Rio will perform Aug. 29 at the 2014 Sweet Corn Festival

Millersport, Ohio, will play host to two top-selling country acts this week when Diamond Rio and Jo Dee Messina take the stage at the 2014 Sweet Corn Festival.

The annual Labor Day Weekend festival, scheduled for Aug. 27 through Aug. 30, is likely to draw country fans from around the state. Fest organizers are advising audiences to arrive early to get a good seat for the concerts, which are being offered free of charge.

Known for their hits "How Your Love Makes Me Feel," "One More Day" and "I Believe," Diamond Rio are the first country music group to reach number one with a debut single ("Meet Me in the Middle").

Since forming in the mid-'80s, Diamond Rio have garnered numerous awards, such as the Country Music Association's Group of the Year (four-time winners), Top Vocal Group from the Academy of Country Music (twice) and 13 Grammy nominations. Three of the band's seven albums have achieved platinum status in the U.S.

Jo Dee Messina burst onto the country scene in 1996, scoring six number one singles and selling more than five million albums worldwide. She is currently touring in support of her new album, Me, released in March.

Diamond Rio will perform Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the Brookover-Harlow Pavilion. Messina will follow on Saturday at the same location at 8:30 p.m.

There are plenty of non-music attractions scheduled this week, such as rides, contests, a parade, a tractor pull, a 5K run, and plenty of food (including lots of sweet corn).

Hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. For more information and a complete schedule, visit www.sweetcornfest.com.
