Tom Walker of the National Alliance On Mental Illness talks with Congressman Tim Murphy, Ph.d, (R-PA) about his push for better mental healthcare in the United States with his bill called H.R. 3717, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. The congressman hopes to fix the nation’s broken mental health system by focusing programs and resources on psychiatric care for patients & families most in need of services. A man with many roles, a psychologist, a Navy Reserves Lieutenant Commander, as well as House congressman, Dr. Murphy witnesses first hand the effects of the country's poor mental healthcare system, and is looking to change that with this bill.
