Supporters of proposed statewide policy to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Ohioans from discrimination met with state lawmakers this week to push for legislation that would make the changes they are seeking.

Over 130 faith leaders and other advocates met with some House and Senate members at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday to show their support for bills now in both houses of the Legislature. The advocates say the legislation would protect LGBT Ohioans from discrimination in the workplace, in access to housing and in public accommodations.

A spokesman for the Ohio Senate Republicans says both bills remain in committees in the House and Senate.

Similar bills in previous years failed to get through the Legislature.
