Gov. John Kasich says he plans to push back even harder against political adversaries during his second term, as he tries to further reduce Ohio's income tax, enact restrictions on charter schools and hammer out a satisfactory compromise on renewable-energy mandates.

The Republican governor's remarks dominated a lunchtime event Thursday where he was joined by Senate President Keith Faber and retiring House Speaker William Batchelder.

Kasich highlighted the benefits of Ohio's expansion of the Medicaid government health-care program and of his economic policies, including creation of a privatized job-creation office.

The outspoken Kasich joked that he has been shy so far and plans to come out of his shell this term by speaking out against people who stand in his way.
