Just a few weeks away from show time, the Nelsonville Music Festival is still adding acts to an already impressive lineup.

The annual fest, presented by Stuart's Opera House, will take place May 29-June 1 at Robbins Crossing, located on the Hocking College campus.

This Friday, Stuart’s Opera House will host bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent, currently touring in support of their 2013 release Brothers on the Highway.

The pair, who have been recognized as three-time IBMA Entertainers of The Year and two-time Grammy nominees, have become a perennial favorite on the touring and festival circuit, playing more than 100 shows per year to sold-out crowds throughout the U.S..

Memphis rock group Saliva will be headlining a concert at the Athens County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 10, presented by the Horse Creek Riders Motorcycle Club.

In addition to Saliva, 70s Southern rock group Stillwater, British heavy metal band Blitzkrieg and southeast Ohio band Dorothy will also be among the headliners for the event.

Other bands to play include Third Shadow, Five Foot Forward, Soulcracker, Junkyard Republic, Swivel and Failing Fate.

The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra (SEOSO) will perform its rescheduled Children's Concert on Sunday, May 18 at 3:30 p.m. in Muskingum University's Brown Chapel.

Music from the main stage and classic festival food aromas filled downtown McArthur Thursday for the 30th opening night of the Wild Turkey Festival.

Dozens of street vendors, games and rides lined the midway, as visitors were treated to a warm, clear night in Vinton County. Country artist Chris Higbee performed, along with The Chase and festival mainstay Hayley Watson.

Ohio University’s All-Campus Radio Network hosted its annual Lobsterfest last weekend, hosting a diverse group of acts from the East Coast, the Midwest and in the case of headliner Deerhoof, from California.

The event, organized and run by ACRN’s Promotions Director Shane Riley, featured acts who were dispersed at different uptown venues throughout the weekend.

The festivities started Friday, April 25 at Casa Cantina with Athens' melodic punk outfit Ghost Stories, followed by a contrast of sounds, varying from noise-heavy experimentation to pleasant folk.

If you’re heading out of town this week toward McArthur, you may want to stop in and check out the 30th anniversary of the Wild Turkey Festival, which looks to be the most exciting yet.

This year’s festivities will feature multiple nationally known music artists and all the traditions residents have come to love.

The festival opens Thursday, May 1 and carries on until Sunday, with featured entertainment each night and a schedule full of community events, rides and food.
