An Athens-based Ohio art collective will hold its annual pancake breakfast this weekend, utilizing local food to raise money for local music.

Aquabear Legion was founded in 2004 by Brian Koscho and Todd Jacops — two Lorain natives who now reside in Athens County. Koscho said he came to Athens in 2001 to attend Ohio University and ran in the same circles as Jacops. He said even though they grew up in the same town, it wasn’t until they were both in Athens that they made a connection.

The second installment of TRAYSH ISLAND (titled BURNING MANG) comes to 8550 OHIO this weekend, just outside the little Appalachian town of Chesterhill, Ohio.

It's one of the more interesting gatherings of artists and musicians I’ve attended, in the absolutely drop-jawed gorgeousness that only Southeast Ohio can provide.

Now in its fourth year, The Mozart on the Green Festival will present renowned guest artists, faculty and students in performance on Ohio University's College Green (Aug. 6) and the Glidden Recital Hall (Aug. 9). This year’s series includes guest cellists Thomas Gregory and Cynthia Puls, students from The Cello Company of Parkersburg and recently appointed OU violin faculty member Dawn Wohn.

The Phillip Fox Band will be in concert for Bike Night at Millstone BBQ on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.

The band has played together for three-and-a-half years. Two years ago, they released their first full band recording, Motor City Blood. Their newest album, Heartland, comes out Sept. 2, after a year-and-a-half of preparation.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Fox, noting that subject matter ranges from love songs to road songs to angry songs. “It covers a lot of topics.”

The Zanesville Museum of Art’s 2014 free summer concert series, Musical Color II, continues on Saturday, July 26 with the "Good Earth Concert," to be performed by the Schubach Big Band and the Zanesville Civic Chorus.

This down-to-earth performance will feature musical numbers such as Carole King's "I Feel the Earth Move" and Pete Seeger’s "Turn, Turn, Turn."

Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville will continue its Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. with Yarn, an Americana group from New York.

The concert will take place in the Stuart’s Opera House parking lot and is free and open to the public. No tickets are needed.

Stuart's hosts the free music series through September on the last Friday of each month in conjunction with Nelsonville's Final Friday event. The concert also includes a beer garden.
