The Ohio University Performing Arts Series will present country music duo Thompson Square on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

Husband-and-wife team Keifer and Shawna Thompson received their first taste of mainstream success with the release of the Grammy-nominated "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not." The single spent five consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Thousands are expected to attend this weekend's All Good Festival, being held July 18-21 at Legend Valley, located in the rolling hills of Thornville, Ohio. More than 50 acts will perform, including members of The Grateful Dead, Yonder Mountain String Band and Grace Potter.

After all the opening Jackson County Fair ceremonies have taken place this Sunday, Ben Davis Jr. will take to the Grandstand for a musical performance.

Davis and his band are set to take the stage on Sunday, July 14 at 7 p.m.

Despite his young age, Davis, an Americana/alt. country/folk singer from Jackson County, is a veteran of the stage.

While performing live, Davis tells a wide variety of stories and plays his originals with a heartfelt angst and intensity. His music is open, honest and humorous.

ARTS/West is turning up the volume this weekend. The west-side venue, which is hosting the annual Athens Rock Camp for Girls, will present a concert this Saturday featuring some of the area's newest rock stars.

The Family Roots Festival is exactly what it sounds like: an event to get together with family and friends and have good-natured fun.

This past weekend, the festival ran for its third year at Smoke Rise Ranch.

With a vibrant mix of music, art and friendly people, it went off without a hitch, at least as far as the attendees knew.

"Now you see what we have to deal with," chuckled Raye Sanborn, a co-founder of the festival along with her husband Brian.

Raye was speaking of the difficulties they had providing the visiting bands with their hospitality requests.
