Music fans and record collectors gathered at Stuart's Opera House for the 4th annual Cabin Fever Festival on Saturday, Jan. 19.

In addition to several used record vendors and music posters from Marietta's Just A Jar, the evening featured performances from Dolfish, Tim Easton, Cotton Jones and Freakwater.

The fourth annual Cabin Fever Festival returns this Saturday with an impressive lineup of bands and solo performers, as well as an assortment of vinyl LPs, posters and local artwork.

This year's headliner is alt-country band Freakwater, known for their half-dozen recordings on the Thrill Jockey label.

A critically acclaimed Americana/indie band, two up-and-coming soul/funk and "cirque-rock" groups and a freak-folk pioneer are the latest additions to the 2013 Nelsonville Music Festival, scheduled for May 30-June 2 at Hocking College.

The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State Community College will present the Solaris Woodwind Quintet on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. in Graham Auditorium.

Since its formation in 1976 as Ensemble in Residence at the University of Akron, Solaris has established a reputation as one of the foremost woodwind quintets in the United States.

In addition to their regular concert series at the University of Akron, Solaris has toured in Italy, Brazil, Sweden and throughout the U.S.

Columbus, Ohio's Angela Perley is prolific by anyone's standards. Since 2010, she has released four EPs, toured throughout the U.S., produced a handful of music videos, received overseas airplay on the BBC and is preparing to record her full-length debut.

Perley, who got her start in Athens, will be returning for a show at Casa Cantina this Friday. WOUB's Bryan Gibson talked with Perley about her new CD and what's ahead for 2013.

2012 has been a good year for music; perhaps not as great compared to others, but good. 

I have been looking through my CD collection and past Radio Free Athens set lists to see if there are any recordings that have blown my mind to the point where I haven't been able to get them out of my CD player.

I can't point to any one disc that has achieved that status, but that's not to say that there weren't any albums I've liked; there were plenty.
