The Foothill Folk Society, a group of individuals dedicated to teaching, promoting and preserving Appalachian arts and music, will present a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the Bennett Hall auditorium at Ohio University-Chillicothe.

As usual, my listening habits have been scattered everywhere this year. I will often binge on an artist's catalog, and this year was no different.

For me, 2014 was a return to regular radio after a hiatus, while finishing The Phantom Sessions recording of original music.

I managed to broadcast Jewelbox Radio on KKCR (Kaua'i Community Radio) throughout the first half of the year, and weekly all summer long on WDRT in Southwest Wisconsin, near my hometown.

Every so often throughout its brief existence, rock is pronounced over and done with by a handful of very knowledgeable artists, critics or record execs that, by now, ought to know better.

Athens-based Ohio music and art collective Aquabear Legion will release a double LP compilation featuring 24 Ohio bands in spring 2015.

The organization launched an Indiegogo page to fund the project through a pre-order, featuring not only the record release but also limited edition posters, colored vinyl and more.

Aquabear 2015 will include music from 24 bands hailing from Athens, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Yellow Springs and Cincinnati.
