Melding the musical, art and consciousness realms, the Rootwire Music and Arts Festival is anything but your standard summer music festival.

Held Aug. 15-18 at Kaeppner’s Woods in Logan, Rootwire brings together dozens of musicians, visionary artists, guest speakers, yoga instructors and a variety of performers for four days of performances, workshops and camping.

The event, in its fourth year, was created by the Athens-spawned psychedelic band Papadosio.

This past weekend marked the 2013 All Good Music Festival. It was the second year of being located at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, and it attracted its usual eclectic crowd of festers.

There were hippies, trustafarians, deadheads, ravers, wookies, weirdos, hipsters and country-folk in addition to families and children.

It’s not often you see all these people in the same place for the same reason, but that’s the beauty of an event like All Good.

For 14 years, Southeast Ohio musicians have known Nick Collura as the proprietor of Insea Sound Shop, a vintage instrument store and studio located just north of Nelsonville.

But once a year, Collura switches gears, puts on his event planner hat and hosts one of the best summer parties in the region--The Diamond Music Festival, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Lake Logan.
