On Saturday, Sept. 22, local singer-songwriter Jesse James Russell performed two sets of original music at Insea Sound Shop in Nelsonville, Ohio, as part of the monthly Blue Room Sessions concert series.

On the third Saturday of each month, Insea Sound Shop owner Nick Collura presents a live showcase of local and regional talent at the shop's recording studio.

Raucous roots-swing duo The Two Man Gentlemen Band returns to Athens this Wednesday. 

Tenor guitarist, banjoist and singer Andy Bean and bassist Fuller Condon have been touring the country for about six years, winning hearts and minds.

Stuart's Opera House's Free Summer Concert Series came to a close on Friday, Sept. 28 with a performance by Athens' own Southeast Engine.

As the sun set on Nelsonville's Public Square, the band added to the eerie, yet exciting, atmosphere with its sometimes-dark, Apppalachian-tinged folk-rock.

Taj Mahal is a unique character in American roots music. Most people would initially regard him as a bluesman, steeped in country and Delta blues of the southern United States, but he is much more than that.

Since his first self-titled release in 1968, 70-year old Taj Mahal has released two dozen solo albums, eight live albums, and a dozen compilations. You can hear many of his various and numerous influences on those recordings.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, Uncle Buck’s Riding Stable and Dance Barn hosted the "Pig Roast and Paddle" fundraising event on behalf of Athens Building Industry Association and Raccoon Creek Partnership.

Live music at the event included Albany’s own Rarely Herd as well as electric bluesman Willie Phoenix from Columbus.

Though many were in attendance for The Rarely Herd’s bluegrass music, Willie Phoenix also received a warm welcome from the Uncle Buck’s crowd.
