The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra  (SEOSO) will perform its annual Holiday Pops Concert on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville. 

Conducted by SEOSO Music Director Dr. Laura Schumann, the concert will feature a number of holiday favorites, including "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Stille Nacht," selections from A Charlie Brown Christmas and "Santa at the Symphony."

Jazz fans will be treated to everything from bebop to The Beatles during the Ohio University School of Music's Fall Jazz Night on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

The evening will include performances by Jazz Ensembles I and II and the Jazz Percussion Ensemble.

Ohio University Professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies Matt James is directing Ensemble I, which will feature a mix of original and classic selections.

The Ohio University School of Music will host a visting artist recital entitled "Music of Argentina and the Andes," Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Glidden Hall Recital Hall.

Visiting artists Pablo Salcedo and Oscar Puebla have traveled from Mendoza, Argentina, where they are faculty at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. The duo will be in residence at Ohio University for a week of performing and teaching.

The recital will feature a unique mix of Andean music, original works and traditional music of Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.

Over the past decade, Michael Render, better known as Killer Mike, has made some incredible contributions to the modern rap and hip-hop scene by preaching political observations over sleek and well-constructed beats.

That ability to use rap to accurately portray the hardships of Americans in the now, while still making those tracks completely and utterly catchy, is proof that Killer Mike is an artist who isn’t going to fade away in the next five, 10 or even 20 years.
