Haffa's Records transformed into a concert venue on Saturday, Sept. 6 when Aquabear Legion moved its 8th annual County Fair activities across West Union Street for the afternoon.

The two-day event, mostly held at The Union Bar & Grill in Athens, featured more than a dozen acts from around Ohio.

Saturday afternoon's show included Athens musicians Chris Biester and Adam Remnant, along with Joe Anderl of Dayton band The 1984 Draft.

Several times a year, Stuart’s Opera House teams up with Ohio University’s Performing Arts Series, African Studies Program and Arts for Ohio to present performances by outstanding African artists. This Thursday, Nigerian musician Seun Kuti, the son of acclaimed afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, will perform at Stuart's with his late father’s band, Egypt 80.

Aquabear Legion’s dedication to spreading the Ohio music gospel continues this weekend as the Aquabear County Fair returns for an eighth year.

The event, which features 15 acts from Athens and around the state, takes place this Friday and Saturday at The Union Bar & Grill, with a Saturday afternoon in-store show at Haffa's Records.

The Logan Marching Chieftains have made great strides under the leadership of Jeff North, the longest-standing band director in Logan High School history. North is currently marking is 30th year as a head band director, with 28 of those years spent at his alma mater, Logan High.

Rock for Kids’ Sake will take place on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Uncle Buck’s Riding Stable and Dance Barn in New Marshfield to support three organizations that serve underprivileged children in the area.

The Athens Building Industries Association, The Shrine Club of Athens and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Athens are co-hosting a night of music and food all to benefit underprivileged and at-risk children in the community.

There will be live music from The Lennon Orchestra and Keesey. Slow cooked BBQ and drinks will be available.
