Keith Schneider, an award winning journalist for Circle of Blue and the New York Times, recently spoke at Ohio University to students at the Voinovich School’s Environmental Studies Program.

He talked about global nexus between water, energy, and food issues.  He also discussed “Choke Point,”  a collaboration between Circle of Blue and the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C.  “Choke Point” provides “frontline reporting, data, and policy expertise.”

Tom Walker of the National Alliance On Mental Illness talks with D.J. Munroe about her experiences with a son suffering from Schizophrenia. Her book, "FIRST BREAK Schizophrenia; Recover is Possible", is the story of her 19-year-old son experience with the disorder, and how the US mental health system failed her and her family. D.J. talks about how the National Alliance on Mental Illness helped her with her son, and how she gives back to the organization by helping others.

John Spon is the Law Director of Mansfield Ohio and a strong proponent for cities to take action to protect local environments from water pollution and other outgrowths of fracking.

He was in Athens recently to promote Issue 7 – a Citizens’ Bill of Rights for the City of Athens which is on the Nov. 4th ballot.  He spoke with WOUB’s Tom Hodson.

Michelle Houts defines herself as a “writer, school speech pathologist, a mom and a farmer.” She also is the author of four books for children published since 2010.

Her most recent book, Kammie on First, Baseball’s Dottie Kamenshek, has just been released by the Ohio University Press.  Houts will visit Athens on Friday, Oct. 24 to sign books between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the Athens Book Center.

It is the first in a new biography series being published by the Ohio University Press, for young readers.
