CROOKSVILLE, Ohio (WOUB)-  The Crooksville Ceramics took on the Southern Tornadoes at home after their first win in 21 games last week. Looking to continue their winning streak, Crooksville came out hot in the first half of the game.

The Tornadoes received the ball first, and the Ceramics put up a fantastic defensive front, ending with a huge interception by Hayden Hurst. Quarterback Braysom Hill threw a short pass to wide receiver Christian Browning who ran 45 yards to the endzone. After the extra point, the Ceramics lead 7-0.

Southern was hungry for a good offensive possession. After being stuffed on third down, the Tornadoes elected to go for it on fourth down. A reception from Brayden Otto gave them the first down. On the next set of downs, Crooksville again held them third down. Southern chose to go for it, a decision that again gave the Tornadoes a first down. Quarterback Josiah Smith then threw a dagger to the 26-yard line.

Christian Browning ended up breaking up a pass on third down, but for the third time Southern tried for it, this time resulting in a touchdown. The Tornadoes decided to go for the two-point conversion, but it ended up being picked off once again by Hayden Hurst. The Ceramics still led 7-6.

After Southern’s score, time was winding down in the second quarter. Crooksville found a way to get down the field, bringing them to the 7-yard line with twelve seconds remaining. On the next play the Ceramics had multiple holding flags. With 4 seconds remaining, Brady Cottrell then stepped up to kick a 25-yard field goal to put Crooksville up 10-6 at the half.

The Ceramics did not allow Southern to score the remainder of the game and scored an extra 21 points, winning the game 31-6.

Next week Crooksville takes on Berne Union at home.
