Dead Body Spurs Investigation In Parkersburg

UPDATE 3:22 P.M. Parkersburg police have released the identity of the body of a man found on the Little Kanawha riverbank.

According to Police Chief Joseph Martin, next-of-kin identified 29-year-old Nick Blackburn Jr.

Blackburn was reported missing on Monday, but had not been seen since February 1.

Martin says the body showed no signs of trauma and was sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.


Detectives are investigating the scene of a dead body on the Little Kanawha riverbank.

Parkersburg Police Sergeant Greg Nangle says the body of a white male in his early 30's was found in the woods off Depot Street.

A Department of Highways employee was a taking a smoke break when he saw the body about 100 yards down the riverbank.

The body is being sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
