West Virginia flags are being displayed at half-staff at the State Capitol Complex and at state facilities in Nicholas County in remembrance of former House of Delegates member John W. Shelton.

Shelton died Tuesday. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin ordered the flags lowered from dusk until dawn Friday.

Shelton was elected to the House in 1995 and represented the 35th District through 2004. He served as chairman of the Committee on Interstate Cooperation and as vice chairman of the Committee on Roads and Transportation.
