West Virginians are getting an opportunity to weigh in on the state's historic preservation efforts.

The West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office is conducting a dozen meetings across the state to receive comments on how preservation efforts are working, and what should be done over the next five years.

Ideas from the meetings and surveys will be considered in drafting a new historic preservation comprehensive plan by June 2014.

The first meeting is set for March 14 at the Culture Center in Charleston. Other meetings will be held through May 30 in 11 cities, including Huntington, Ellenboro, Morgantown, and Moundsville.
