After creating and managing his own successful business for over three decades, Larry Triplett now contributes his time helping other young entrepreneurs in the Muskingum County region grow their businesses and become established.

Triplett currently acts as chairman of the Muskingum County Business Incubator (MCBI). He also has been instrumental in founding the East Central Ohio Tech Angel Fund (ECOTAF) which helps finance local entrepreneurs.

MCBI started as a small business incubator in the early 2000’s but has now grown to a 55,000 square foot facility and an organization that provides entrepreneurs office space, assistance, coaching and guidance, according to Triplett.

Recently, he discussed with WOUB’s Tom Hodson the growth of MCBI and how it meshes with TechGROWTH Ohio in supplying innovation needs to the Southeastern Ohio region.

Triplett believes that there are no geographic boundaries to innovation and entrepreneurship anymore.  He sees no reason why our region cannot become the next Silicon Valley. He believes we must be less reliant on extraction industries and more reliant on invention, he says.

To assist local efforts, Triplett has gathered some 40 private investors who are looking for business opportunities with young start-ups in this region.

MCBI is part of the successful patchwork of supporting entities that foster and support local enterprises.  It is an essential part of the innovation ecosystem in our area.
