Ohio University men’s basketball senior guard Nick Kellogg was nominated Tuesday to the 2014 Allstate Good Works Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The award honors a select group of student-athletes who show strong commitment to volunteerism and giving back to the community.

Special voting panels will select two 10-member teams from the 201 total nominees, including both male and female student-athletes. The teams will be made up of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA.

Seven-time NBA All-Star and former Duke University student-athlete Grant Hill will headline the Allstate NABC Good Works Team panel, while WNBA basketball player Tamika Catchings will head the Allstate Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) panel.

Those named to the NABC Good Works Team will be invited by Allstate to the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final Four in Dallas, where they will participate in a community project in the city.

Nick Kellog, a Westerville, Ohio native, is an active member of Athletes in Action at Ohio University. The group is a division of the Campus Crusade for Christ. Kellogg frequently meets with an AIA liaison on campus to plan ways to more effectively incorporate aspects of faith into team activities.

Kellogg traveled to the Ivory Coast this past summer as a part of Athletes in Action mission trip. There he met with high school students and visited orphanages all while putting on basketball clinics to show how faith can be incorporated into athletics.

The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.
