Patton College of Education Dedicates the Edward Stevens Literacy Center

On November 30 the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education at Ohio University will dedicate the Edward Stevens Literacy Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in McCracken Hall.
The program will begin with a reception in the First Floor Atrium where a portrait of former First Lady Deborah M. McDavis will be unveiled by Dean Renee A. Middleton. Both First Lady McDavis and former Ohio University President Roderick McDavis are expected to attend.
The program will then proceed to the Second Floor Lobby for the dedication of the Literacy Center. The proceeding will be presided over by Center Director Julie Francis. Members of the Stevens family are expected to attend.
Dr. Edward W. Stevens was a Distinguished Professor at Ohio University and served on the faculty from 1971-1997.
First Lady McDavis will then receive the Helen M. Robinson distinguished Literacy Advocate Award from Dean Middleton.
There also will be special presentation to the Kolter Elementary School in Houston and to Harold and Connie Molineu of Athens.
A Recognition of Contributions to Reading Education award then will be given to Dorothy J. Leal.
Following the remarks, optional tours of the Stevens Literacy Center will be provided. The public is invited and welcome.
