It’s time to get your tickets for the 6th Annual Ribs, Rhythm & Blues, taking place on Saturday, June 8 at the Union Hall Theater in Chesterhill, Ohio.

The event will start at 5 p.m. with a dinner of country style ribs, side dishes and homemade pies, served at the Chesterhill Volunteer Fire Department building on State Route 555. The entertainment will begin at 7 p.m.

Headlining the show will be VizzTone recording artist Long Tall Deb. Raised in El Paso, Texas, on the Mexican border, Deb Landolt grew up hearing blues, soul and the folk music of West Texas.

Her soulful, sweet vocals combine with her cheery–and occasionally ornery–demeanor to result in a very entertaining stage presence.

Deb’s 2013 album release, Raise Your Hands, made the Living Blues and Roots Music Report charts. It includes 10 songs co-written by Deb, and features guest appearances by world-renowned blues musicians Jimmy Thackery, Reese Wynans and the Room Full of Blues Horns.

Deb's backing band will include slide guitarist extraordinaire Colin John, who has headlined Ribs, Rhythm & Blues twice in the past. John, who lives in Hawaii, is internationally recognized as a unique musician, possessing equal skill on acoustic, resonator and electric guitars.

As a slide player, John's facility with both lap and bottleneck styles, and his formidable fingerpicking skills, are impressive. Guitar Player Magazine described Colin as follows: "This is what Jimi Hendrix might have sounded like if he had abandoned the rat race, moved to Hawaii, taken up surfing and let the sun and waves bestow their laid-back highs."

To date, John has recorded six solo albums featuring members of Al Green’s and Eric Clapton’s bands, and made guest appearances on albums by Michael Hill and Hubert Sumlin.

The other members of Long Tall Deb’s band each have decades of experience as professional blues musicians. They are: John Popovich, keyboards; Melvin Powe, bass; and Jan Roll, drums.

Starting off the show will be Michelle McGrath of Athens, who has a beautiful, bluesy voice and impressive blues guitar chops. McGrath will be backed by Catfish and Junebug, two pillars of the Athens music scene and members of such bands as The Paranormals, the Lennon Orchestra, Joe Bob Billy and the Texas Alien, Stella and The Royales.

The ribs dinner is available by advance ticket only; call The Station at 740-554-3271. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for those under 18.
