Weather Advisories Issued For SE Ohio

UPDATE 7:55 P.M. Several severe weather warning advisories have expired for the region, but much of Southeast Ohio remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m.

Radar indicates the worst of the storm system, which stretched from New England to the central southern United States, has passed, leaving heavy rain showers and scattered thunderstorms to follow.

Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington counties are still under thunderstorm watch.

A flash flood watch also remains in effect for including Coshocton, Tuscarawas, Noble, Muskingum and Guernsey counties until 10 p.m., particularly in areas of creeks and streams and where water drainage is poor.


UPDATE 6:16 P.M. The National Weather Service has extended a thunderstorm warning for the region until 7 p.m.

Radar indicates a strong storm system is passing over the area, bringing with it winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour and possible hail.


UPDATE 5:51 p.m. Flash flooding may be the next concern for some counties in Ohio.

Severe storms are bringing heavy rain to the region.
 
That may help with the drought, but right now flooding could be a problem.   
 
Several counties have been placed under a flash flood watch until 10 p.m., including Coshocton, Tuscarawas, Noble, Muskingum and Guernsey counties.
 
A thunderstorm warning for the region has been extended until 6:45 p.m.

Much of Southeast Ohio is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15 p.m. as a band of storms is headed across the state.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for Athens, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Vinton and Washington counties.
 
Radar indicated the storm could produce damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail.
 
A severe thunderstorm warning for Southeast Ohio, central Kentucky and central West Virginia remains in effect until 10 p.m.
